Help · For club webmasters

Club results on your website

Show your club's live leaderboards, events, ladders, knockouts, leagues and news on your own website. They update by themselves as archers score.

What you need

  • A club on TargetAce Live and a club organiser to turn on its website key.
  • Nothing else: results on your website are free for every club. Script and iframe widgets carry a Scores by TargetAce line, which Club Plus clubs can hide.

Get the website key in the app

  1. Open Clubs, then your club.
  2. Open Organiser tools and find Club website.
  3. Tap Get a website key. The key starts with tas_ and only organisers can see it.

Share key lets you send it to whoever looks after your website. New key replaces it, and Switch off turns it off.

Get the website key in the organiser console

  1. Go to targetace.app/console on a computer. Sign in with a code from the app: Profile, then Sign in on the web.
  2. Open Club website in the console’s menu.
  3. Choose Turn on. The key shows under Website key.

The key only lets a website show your club's results. It can't change anything. It does appear in your web page's code, so if it ends up somewhere you don't want, make a new key.

Quick start

The organiser console builds the code for you and shows a live preview.

  1. In the console, open Club website and find Put results on your website.
  2. Under Show, choose what to show. Under Your website, choose Script tag, WordPress shortcode or Iframe. Under Colours, choose Light, Dark or Follow the visitor’s device. Then choose Copy.
  3. On your website, add an HTML, Embed code or Custom HTML block where the results should go. Paste the code in and publish the page.

For WordPress, the builder gives a shortcode instead. For Everything, which has no shortcode, it gives the script version to paste into a Custom HTML block.

The code looks like this, with your own key in place of tas_…:

<div data-targetace="leaderboard" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

The first line is where the widget appears. The second line loads it. A page needs the second line once, however many widgets it has, but pasting it twice does no harm.

The widgets

Change the word after data-targetace to choose what a widget shows. Every widget takes the options that apply to it.

Leaderboard

One competition's leaderboard: place, archer, bow style, score and 10s, and Xs when anyone has scored an X. If the competition counts team scores, a team table follows. Long lists show the first 10 rows and a Show all button.

Without data-competition it shows the newest open competition. If none is open, it shows the newest competition.

<div data-targetace="leaderboard" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

To always show the same competition, add its id:

<div data-targetace="leaderboard" data-club="tas_…" data-competition="abc123def456ghi"></div>

To find an id, open the competition, ladder, knockout or league in the organiser console. The page address ends with 15 letters and numbers after the last slash. That is the id.

Competitions

Every competition, newest first, each with its leaderboard. Up to the club's 20 most recent competitions.

<div data-targetace="competitions" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Events

The club's public events: coming up, live now and finished in the last 14 days, soonest first. Each one has a button to its page on targetace.app: Enter while entries are open, Results once it starts, otherwise Details. Draft and cancelled events don't show.

Shows 10 events unless you set data-limit.

<div data-targetace="events" data-club="tas_…" data-limit="5"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

News

Club announcements that an organiser marked Show on the club website, pinned ones first, then newest first. Announcements past their end date drop off.

Shows 5 items unless you set data-limit.

<div data-targetace="announcements" data-club="tas_…" data-limit="3"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Ladders

Ladder standings: place, archer, bow style, won and lost, and rating for ladders ranked by rating. Without data-ladder it shows each running and finished ladder, newest first. Ladders that haven't started yet don't show.

<div data-targetace="ladder" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Knockouts and leagues

Knockouts round by round, and league tables with played, won, drawn, lost, set difference and points. Without data-tournament it shows the club's 10 newest knockouts and leagues. Cancelled ones don't show.

<div data-targetace="results" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Head-to-head

Matches between club members over the last year: a win/loss table and the 10 most recent results. It only shows once an organiser switches on Show head-to-head results under Club website. Casual matches of archers who keep their matches private are left out.

<div data-targetace="h2h" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Club records

The club's confirmed records, in a table for each round: class, archer, score and date. To show them, an organiser opens Club records in the app, then Records settings, and switches on Show records publicly. This widget is free for every club and keeps working without Club Plus.

<div data-targetace="records" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Season series

The club's season series: each archer's best scores across several leaderboards, added up. A Club Plus club's organiser makes a series on the Leaderboards page of the organiser console.

<div data-targetace="series" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

TargetAce champions

The club's reigning TargetAce champions: each one's name, title and championship, linked to their archer page when it is public. A champion whose page isn't public is shown as a member of this club, without a name. When the club has a champion, the same lines also appear above its competitions and on the whole-page widget.

<div data-targetace="champions" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Committee

Shows the club's committee: each member's role and name. An organiser gives members their roles on the Members page of the organiser console and switches on Show the committee on the club's public page.

<div data-targetace="committee" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Club name and badge

The club's badge, name, area and how many members it has on TargetAce.

<div data-targetace="club" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Everything

All of the above on one page, in this order: club name and badge, the 3 latest news items, events, competitions, ladders, knockouts and leagues, head-to-head and club records. Parts with nothing in them are left out.

<div data-targetace="all" data-club="tas_…"></div>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Options

Add these to the widget's first line, as in the examples above.

Colours and corners

Light and dark

Widgets are light unless you choose otherwise. For a dark website, add data-theme="dark". To follow each visitor's device setting, add data-theme="auto".

<div data-targetace="leaderboard" data-club="tas_…" data-theme="dark"></div>

Your own colours

Widgets draw in their own space, so your site's styles can't break them. They use your site's font. To match your colours, add CSS like this to your site's custom CSS, or in a style tag on the page:

[data-targetace] {
  --ta-accent: #1a5d1a; /* links and buttons */
  --ta-surface: #ffffff; /* card background */
  --ta-ink: #17202b; /* text */
  --ta-radius: 4px; /* corners */
}
SettingColoursLightDark

--ta-surfaceCard and table background#ffffff#18202a

--ta-soon, --ta-soon-softComing up labels: text, background#6b4f00, #fff4cc#f7dc86, #3a3013
--ta-radiusCorner rounding12px12px

To give one widget different colours, put a class on it and use that class in the CSS instead of [data-targetace]. Colours you set apply in light and dark. Iframes and the WordPress plugin don't use these settings.

Languages

Widgets come in English, Dutch, German, French, Italian and Spanish. Headings, column names, labels and dates follow the language. Names of competitions, events and news stay as the club wrote them.

A widget uses your page's language when it is one of these, and English otherwise. To choose, add data-lang:

<div data-targetace="events" data-club="tas_…" data-lang="nl"></div>

The messages for a switched-off key or paused results are in English only.

Sites that don't allow scripts

Some site builders don't run scripts you paste in, or put your code in a box of fixed size. Wix, Squarespace, Google Sites, Weebly and Jimdo can all work this way, depending on the plan and the element you use. If the first snippet shows nothing or is cut off, use the iframe version instead. In the console builder, choose Iframe under Your website.

<iframe data-targetace-frame src="https://targetace.app/embed/leaderboard?club=tas_…" style="width:100%;border:0;min-height:320px" title="Club results" loading="lazy"></iframe>
<script src="https://targetace.app/embed.js" async></script>

Use the same widget names in the address, after /embed/. Add options to the end of the address, each after an &, without data- in front:

https://targetace.app/embed/events?club=tas_…&limit=5&theme=dark&lang=fr
In the addressWhat it does
clubYour club's website key. Needed.
competition, ladder, tournament, limit, theme, lang, refresh, creditThe same as the options above
fontA font for the widget, such as Georgia. The visitor's device must have it.

Inside an iframe, your own colours don't apply.

Iframe height

An iframe can't grow by itself. When your page runs the script line under the iframe, it resizes the iframe to fit. When it doesn't, the iframe stays at its starting height, so set the height in your site builder, or change min-height:320px in the code to something like height:800px.

WordPress

The TargetAce Live Leaderboards plugin puts results into your pages on your own server, so they show without scripts and search engines can read them. It takes your theme's fonts and colours. It needs WordPress 5.8 or later and PHP 7.4 or later.

You can also paste the script snippet into a Custom HTML block if you'd rather have widgets that update by themselves, or if you need Everything, which the plugin doesn't have.

Install the plugin

  1. Download the TargetAce Live Leaderboards plugin (version 1.12.0, a zip file). The console builder has the same link.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins, then Add New Plugin, then Upload Plugin. Choose the zip file, then Install Now, then Activate.
  3. Go to Settings, then TargetAce Live. Paste your website key and save. The page then says which club it is connected to.

The TargetAce results block

In the block editor, add the TargetAce results block. In the block's settings, choose what to show. The editor shows a preview.

  • For One competition, type the competition's name. For a ladder, knockout or league, type its name, or leave it empty for the newest.
  • For competition leaderboards, events, club news and recent head-to-head matches, How many sets how many to list. 0 means the usual number.
  • Club records, the club card, courses and come and try sessions, and one archer’s head-to-head record are in the list too. Every shortcode option is in the block’s settings.
  • Until a website key is saved, the block shows a note with a link to Settings, then TargetAce Live.

Shortcodes

Shortcodes work in any page, post or Shortcode block. Names in name="…" must match the name in TargetAce. Capital letters don't matter.

Results follow your site's language. English, Dutch, German, French, Italian and Spanish come with the plugin: choose one under Settings, then TargetAce Live, or add lang="nl" to one shortcode.

Numbers in brackets are what you get if you leave the option out. Head-to-head shortcodes only show results once an organiser switches them on.

Page caching

With LiteSpeed Cache, the plugin keeps pages with results from being cached for longer than its refresh time. With other caching plugins, leave the pages with results out of the cache, or give them a short cache time. Otherwise visitors may see old results.

Good to know

How up to date results are

  • Script and iframe widgets fetch new results every 60 seconds while they are on screen, so results can be about a minute behind. Change this with data-refresh.
  • The WordPress plugin fetches results every 5 minutes unless you change Refresh every in its settings. If TargetAce can't be reached, it shows the last results it had.

Club Plus and the Scores by TargetAce line

  • Script and iframe widgets show a Scores by TargetAce line. Clubs on Club Plus can hide it with data-credit set to off.
  • The WordPress plugin shows the line only when Scores by TargetAce is ticked under Settings, then TargetAce Live. It is optional for every club: results show either way.
  • If Club Plus lapses, the line shows again and results keep showing. When an organiser renews, it goes again within about five minutes. You don't need to change anything on your website.

The clubhouse screen

  • The clubhouse screen is a full-screen page for a TV or projector on shoot nights. It turns through your open leaderboards, ladders, knockouts, leagues and events, and updates itself every minute. Anyone with the link can see it.
  • It is part of Club Plus. An organiser opens it from Club website in the organiser console, and can set the club's colour there too.
  • Click the page or press F for full screen. The arrow keys turn the page by hand.

Privacy

  • Widgets show archers' names, bow styles and scores, as the club page does. They never show contact details.
  • Archers in a junior age class (under 21 or younger) show by first name and last initial, such as "Sam A.", in competition leaderboards, team tables and club records.
  • Ladders, knockouts, leagues and head-to-head results show the name each archer uses in TargetAce. The WordPress plugin can shorten every name: see Archer names in its settings.
  • Head-to-head results appear only once an organiser switches them on, and archers can keep their casual matches private.
  • Widgets set no cookies. Your visitors' browsers load them from targetace.app, as with any embedded content, so you may want to mention TargetAce in your site's privacy notice. With the WordPress plugin, your own server fetches the results. Visitors only load the club badge from TargetAce, if you show it.

A new key or no key

Making a new website key stops the old one straight away, and so does turning the key off. Update your snippets or the plugin's settings with the new key.

Security settings and blockers

If your site sets a Content Security Policy, allow these:

script-src https://targetace.app
style-src https://targetace.app
connect-src https://targetace.app
img-src https://clubs.targetace.app
frame-src https://targetace.app (iframe version only)

Some ad and privacy blockers stop scripts from other websites. If a widget is blank for one visitor but works for others, a blocker is the likely cause. The WordPress plugin isn't affected, because your own server fetches the results.
